What Happened in Vegas… We’ve Got to Share!

Davison News, Hugs Pet Products, Inventions, Trade Shows

SuperZoo LogoSuperZoo 2015 has just wrapped up in sunny Las Vegas, but our friends at Hugs Pet Products took full advantage of the three-day national show for pet retailers by showcasing some of our latest pet products and packaging designs.

They’ve shared a few snapshots with us and today we’re giving you a look at all of the innovative pet product fun!

Paula Deen had quite the presence at the Hugs’ booth, where the company showcased items that ranged from Deen’s new dog food line to our client Diane’s Hydro line of cooling pet chew toys!

And, it seems that buyers (and their pets) thought our client Diana’s invention idea, the Chillz Comfort Cooling Gel Pet Pad, was pretty cool, too!

Once again, it looks like the products and packaging that we designed have made quite a splash with trade show attendees! Here’s even more proof from SuperZoo 2015 in Las Vegas:

The Excitement Continues After the International Home + Housewares Show

Davison News, Trade Shows

It’s been one week since the 2015 International Home + Housewares Show (IHHS) wrapped up in Chicago.

Last week, we elaborated on the Global Pet Expo and some of the hype that Paula Deen is bringing to the pet products and packaging that we’ve designed at our invention factory, Inventionland for Hugs Pet Products. And, you can bet that excitement followed to the IHHS, where Culinary Professional Chef Tony Notaro and Love Cooking Company representatives showed off their innovative products. In addition to featuring Love’s innovative Mrs. Fields cookware and bakeware products, Love’s booth also showcased delicious creations by Chef Tony himself. In fact, Chef Tony’s Miracle Meatloaf Pan was the hit of the show where he was making deliciously-filled meatloaves right there on the spot. Not to mention, the Dessert Diva and the Fold N Store were also well-received at the IHHS!

Who knows, that excitement might just carry over to another QVC appearance in the next 30-60 days!

The great news didn’t stop there. In fact, you can expect to see the Davison “D” on some new products at Walmart. We can’t wait to hear what comes next from the Love Cooking Company! However, the “icing on the cake” if you will doesn’t stop at just the Love Cooking Company; in fact, they weren’t only company that was showing off the Davison “D” at the IHHS.

That’s because the Petal Clips and the Scrub Gator that were both designed at our invention factory, Inventionland and were licensed to Jokari were International Housewares Association (IHA) Innovation Award Finalists at this year’s IHHS! The pictures were plentiful at this year’s IHHS! Take a look!

All in all, we think that it’s safe to say that the IHHS 2015 was quite the success for both the Love Cooking Company and Jokari!

Davison Products Have Sold in 1,200 Stores!

Davison News, Product News

It seems like only yesterday when our founder and CEO, George Davison excitedly smashed a 9-liter bottle of champagne in our creative workspace, Inventionland, in celebration of reaching a monumental company milestone:

Though that was not long ago, we have continued to add retailers at astounding rates. Today, we’re pleased to announce that the number of stores and online retailers that have carried Davison-designed products and packaging solutions has reached 1,200!

According to Davison, Walmart was the invention industry leader’s first store; but, in 25 years, many more retailers have been added to the list of stores that have carried Davison designs.

Davison’s own invention dream launched the company back in 1989. Since then, he has perfected his Better Way to Invent and brought all aspects of the inventing process under one roof, Inventionland, the 61,000 square foot design facility that churns out 2,200 – 2,400 new inventions each year for every day inventors and corporate clients, alike.

As an inventor, Davison said that one of his greatest rewards is seeing Davison-designed products reach store shelves.

“I find it extremely rewarding to bring an idea for a new product to life… then, actually see it in packaging and on the store shelf. There is nothing more exciting,” said Davison.

Today, you can find Davison-designed products and packaging solutions in big-name retailers like Target, Kohl’s and The Home Depot. There are also hundreds of niche retailers that have added that Davison “D” to their store shelves.

Groupon Sells Out of Davison’s Hot and Cold Back-Therapy Brace Within Hours

Davison News, Featured Invention, Innovative Inventions, Inventions

If you haven’t heard of the deal-of-the-day website, Groupon, the chances are good that you may have been living under a rock for the past five years or so. While that may be a drastic statement, it is safe to say that Groupon is everywhere!

The global leader in commerce works something like this… every 24 hours, the brains behind the operation offer up an electronic coupon for a product, restaurant or service at typically 40-60% below cost.

Other than sharing sheer innovation in common, Groupon and Davison now have another link; we’re excited to announce that a Davison-designed product has been featured as one of Groupon’s showcased products!

In fact the Hot and Cold Back-Therapy Brace, which was licensed by Health Enterprises, was not only featured; but, it SOLD OUT in just a few, short hours!

While you can no longer purchase the Hot and Cold Back-Therapy Brace on Groupon, you can see what the site had to say about the Davison-designed product:

“A series of gel packs lines the brace to treat any aches with either hot or cold therapy. Its sturdy construction also helps protect against new problems by placing firm yet comfortable pressure on the lower back. The brace comes with five removable splints that users can remove for customized support.”

In addition to showcasing some of the product’s very functional features, Groupon also said, tongue in cheek, that the Hot and Cold Back-Therapy Brace“provides back support and a listening ear when you’re sad.” Now, that may be one feature we didn’t think of!

The Half N Half Cupcake Muffin Pan is not the only Davison-designed bakeware that Avon has featured. Our client Jean’s Meatball Baker adorned Avon’s pages in January 2012.

That’s right, our Better Way to Invent helped design these two great inventions and bring them to retailers everywhere!

How’s That Created Thursday: Twister Caps

How's That Made Thursday, Inventor Stories, Product News

Undoubtedly, you’ve gone to the bathroom countless times.  We’d even venture to guess that, while there, you never gave a thought to how the toilet holds fast to the floor… but, we’re betting you’re glad that it does.

Now, many historians give all the credit to the man who invented the toilet.  Rumors have swirled that it was Thomas Crapper (not a pun); but, the first toilet actually dates back to around 1596 with Sir John Harrington.

Other than total necessity and obvious convenience, what made that flushing toilet “stick” – in place that is?

Just look down the next time you’re in the bathroom.  Do you see dingy, exposed bolts at the base of the toilet bowl?  Perhaps a disheveled cap that may be half on the bolt, but barely covers it?  Or, do you see a neat, barely noticeable cap that securely covers that ever-important bolt?

Enter Gary and Ruth Frazer, the masterminds behind Twister Caps, the “why didn’t anyone think of that before” answer to exposed or clumsily-covered toilet bolts.

Like most people, the Frazer’s didn’t think much of their existing toilet caps, until they saw their son’s dog running around with one in his mouth.  It was then that they came up with the idea for Twister Caps, a threaded, screw-on toilet bolt cap that fits all toilets – thanks to careful engineering.

The Davison team helped the Frazer’s invent the cosmetically-appealing cap that’s made of high-impact plastic, threaded on the inside and is very affordable.

Twister Caps easily screw onto 1/4″ or 5/16 ” toilet bolts.  Injection molding is the manufacturing process that creates the mass-produced Twister caps affordably.

While the thought process behind Twister Caps and their installation may be quite simple, a lot of work went into creating those convenient toilet caps so they would fit every toilet.

And, thanks to Twister Caps’ unique threading, they won’t easily lift off.  Their success, however… has skyrocketed!

Millions of Twister Caps have sold nationwide at stores like Ace’s, Lowe’s and Home Depot.

So, thank you, Gary and Ruth Frazer, for noticing something so small that many of us just flushed it out of our minds.  Way to make a splash!

It’s a Snickers, It’s Fruit-Filled, It’s the Surprise Pan on Lifetime!

Dare to Invent, The Balancing Act

‘Tis the season… for sweet surprises!

Tune in to Lifetime TV’s “The Balancing Act” tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. when Mr. Davison will give a little taste of how Davison’s Better Way to Invent has brought so many everyday invention ideas to reality.

Along with Mr. Davison, tomorrow’s episode includes one of our very own Creationeers (and inventors), Pete and his Surprise Pan, as part of Davison’s “Dare to Invent” webisode series.

At Inventionland, Pete focuses on helping everyday people bring their invention ideas to life, which usually involves tearing things apart or blowing things up.  So, when Pete proposed an idea for a cupcake pan that packs an extra sweet punch, his idea turned more than a few heads.

Pete’s Surprise Pan offers a fast and easy way to add something special to cupcakes and muffins.  Equipped with a post in the bottom of each well, the Surprise Pan can easily be filled with candies or fruits, adding a burst of flavor.  Just one batch can yield a wide variety of fillings that will “wow” any party-goer.

The Surprise Pan is easy to use, too.  Simply fill the well halfway with batter, place a piece of candy or fruit on the post and pour the remaining batter on top.  Bake as needed and enjoy a delicious surprise in every bite!

See the Surprise Pan in action on tomorrow’s “The Balancing Act” episode.  For now, enjoy a tantalizing tease of just some of the creations the Surprise Pan can deliver!

“The Balancing Act” is America’s premier one-hour women’s morning show, dedicated to creating trusted solutions for today’s woman and treating viewers to the most current and hot topics, while featuring some of the hottest sports and entertainment industry celebs.
