So what is a Hydro Bone and how does it keep dogs cool and content in hot weather? One happy canine demonstrates this refreshing chew toy that we created for Hugs Pet Products. The video is posted on the website of Doctors Foster and Smith, which is selling this innovative new product.
The long-awaited Hydro Bone has hit the market, landing in Doctors Foster and Smith, the largest pet supply cataloger in the nation, which started out as a small group of dedicated veterinarians. The Hydro Bone originated several years ago on a Davison design team as they were brainstorming ideas for new pet toys for another company, which did not pursue it. The hydrating chew toy, which keeps dogs and puppies cool and content in hot weather, was brought back out recently by the corporate team in its work for Hugs Pet Products.
“We married the product up with them and they kind of ran with it,” said the corporate design manager.
The corporate team did the finishing touches and resolved issues related to materials and created the packaging. The product maintained its original design.
“It’s kind of cool that it’s actually a product we did years ago that we were able to bring back and revive,” said the original design manager on the project. “It’s pretty much the same concept we came up with a few years back.”
The VP of Licensing is hopeful we also will see the product in other stores in the near future. “It’s great to see it’s up on Dr. Foster’s and selling.”
If this innovative item follows in the path of other products we’ve developed for Hugs, it is sure to be a success. It certainly couldn’t have hit the market at a better time of year, when dog owners are searching for ways to keep their canine companions cool!

Stephanie, from Steamboat Springs, Colorado, is the first winner in our “Find the ‘D’ and You Could Win Money” giveaway! She was elated when she got the good news.
I’m so excited, I’ve never won anything!” Stephanie exclaimed. The news could not have come at a better time, as she has been laid off from her job and times have been tough. She will be receiving a $500 gift card to Walmart, which surely will be a big help. She also had a nice comment about our products when she sent in her photo: “Great cushion and even better seeing ‘Davison’ on it! … Go big D!” Stephanie, a client, was told about the contest by her director, Dan. “That’s awesome,” Dan said when he learned Stephanie had won. “She has a lot of passion, but funding’s been tight since she’s been unemployed.” Even so, her enthusiasm for pursuing her idea has never waivered, and she has been a great client to work with, he said.
“Each and every conversation, we have fun … Hopefully this is a little ray of sunshine for her.”
“I think it is a unique experience to look for products that have been invented by the company that I’m currently working with,” Stephanie said in a warm ‘thank you’ message to Davison. “It makes me realize how much Davison has developed through the years … I’ve been working with Daniel, who has been very helpful, informative, and professional. It’s like having a business partner and friend, every time we talk. Thanks, Daniel.”
Stephanie plans on using the gift card on household items, as well as treats for her two dogs. “They thank Davison for the contest as well. It’s nice, with times hard for many of us, to get extra money for needed things for the house,” she said. ”Good luck to all the other contestants playing, it’s a pretty uplifting phone call when you win!!!”

In the past several months we have added many stores, including major retailers, such as Kerr Drug, which is now selling Tru-Ice in its brick-and-mortar stores. The popular chain, located in the Southeast U.S., was named National Pharmacy Chain of the Year. We also added AutoZone, the nation’s leading auto parts retailer, which is now selling several Comfort Products automotive accessories in Davison-designed packaging.
The many new online stores include Faucet Queen, which is selling the 9-piece Helping Hand line of car cleaning products we created, and Hugs Pet Products, for which we developed a large line of pet care items that is selling on their website and in many other stores. One such store is Drs. Foster & Smith, the largest pet supply cataloger in the nation, which is now selling the Dog Wash. Some of the products that have been picked up by new stores are client products, so we also celebrate the fact that more of our clients’ dreams are coming true!

We have just added 13 new Davison-designed products that recently hit the store shelves to our product pages! Now selling at Faucet Queen is the Helping Hand line of automotive cleaning tools we created for the company: Wash Paddle, Wringer Wash, Interior Detail Tool, Detail Towel, Bristle Brush, Wheel Tuner, Extension Pole (more products soon to come in this line).
Two new sewing products that we designed for the Fons & Porter line are now selling in Jo-Ann Stores: The Ultimate Stiletto and Luma Threader.
And four pet items we created for Hugs Pet Products are selling at Debnroo.com: Viewport Birdhouse, A-frame Birdfeeder, Pet Palace, Auto Dish, the latter two of which are products we created for clients. More soon to come in this line, as well!
The additions also have added more stores to the number of those selling Davison products — the list just keeps on growing!

It’s a triple play! Our Meatball Baker, Party on the Go and Perfect Slice are featured in the Winter 2009 edition of “Innovation,” the quarterly design publication of the Industrial Designers Society of America. Our senior concept designer, who created the Perfect Slice, submitted the products to the magazine. The Party on the Go was invented by our client, Joy, and the Meatball Baker was invented by our client, Jean. Congratulations, everyone!
What a nice surprise to see all three products in the Housewares section of the magazine, right up there with G.E., Bunn, Bosch, Oreck and Pyrex, in a full-page spread in “Innovation!” Each product shot includes a great description, as well as a link to Davison.
The Party on the Go, which we developed for our client, Joy, is featured as “the smart buy” in the new 2010 Avon catalog! This is the first product we have ever had for sale at the leading beauty products company, which has markets in more than 100 countries around the world. The handy food caddy “with 5-in-one uses to carry & serve your favorite snacks” is also featured on Avon’s online store.

The latest issue of Sky Mall once again features two familiar products we developed for our clients, the Dog Wash and the Cool Cot House. Congratulations again to our clients and all who worked on their products!
In addition, two more Aviva products for which we designed the packaging, the Rocket Toss Dart Game and the Tot Totter, have hit SkyMall’s fall online catalog. That’s two more to add to our ever-growing list in the stores… the hits just keep on coming!
The innovative RV Leveler we developed for a corporation to provide an efficient way to accurately level a recreational vehicle was featured in the RV Daily Report, a premier online source of RV news. The article was posted on the website’s homepage, as well as sent out in its Newsletter.
The RV Daily Report is an independent source of all the news impacting the RV industry — for people employed in the industry as well as those who enjoy using RVs. The RV Leveler article also was featured under Breaking RV News at RV Trader.com!
