Did you catch “In the Kitchen with David” on QVC last night?

Let’s just say the show left us sizzling with excitement!

Culinary Professional Chef Tony Notaro was back in David Venable’s kitchen showing off one of our latest baking product ideas, the Bacon Baker!

Dubbed the Bacon Bakin’ Pan by Chef Tony, the innovative product that we designed stemmed from our client Jean’s Meatball Baker idea. It provides a Better Way to make healthier bacon by vertically-baking bacon and elevating each individual slice out of its own grease.

Even before the dynamic duo debuted the Bacon Bakin’ Pan, Venable was hyping up the innovative product early in the show, tantalizing viewers with the “brand new way to cook divine swine.”

Once Chef Tony began touting the product that we created at our design facility and showing off just what the Bacon Bakin’ Pan can do, incredible sales immediately followed.

Within minutes, 500 Bacon Bakin’ Pans had sold.

Chef Tony and Venable continued to showcase perfectly cooked bacon, which the pan allows to cook on its side, preserving “all the flavor without the guilt,” as Chef Tony noted.

QVC viewers heard his message and by the time the segment was over, 1,800 of the 8,500 available pans remained and Venable said the phone lines remained “super busy.”

He wasn’t kidding! Only moments later, QVC.com read, “We’re sorry, this item is not available at this time.” Yes, that’s right! The Bacon Bakin’ Pan sold out on its debut QVC appearance!

We couldn’t be more excited for our client, Jean, Chef Tony and the entire team that worked to bring the innovative Bacon Bakin’ Pan to QVC!

And, don’t worry if you missed out last night; the innovative Bacon Bakin’ Pan is now available on QVC.com!

It is always great to see a familiar face… especially when that face is one of our clients who just happens to be in our hometown for a visit!

Coming all the way from her home in Minnesota, Jean Rindfuss, the mastermind behind Chicago Metallic’s Meatball Baker, decided to stop in to visit with one of her contacts at the company where her idea for healthier meatballs was made into a QVC-selling success story…. enter Davison!

Jean and her husband, Don, who was major motivation for the creation of her innovative kitchen product, contacted Davison Vice President of Business Development and Licensing while they were passing through western Pennsylvania.

“[Jean] and her husband [were] traveling to Florida and [were] making a couple stops along the way. They contacted me… and mentioned they were going to pass through Pittsburgh on their way to Virginia Beach… [so, we] went out for dinner and a drink,” said the VP.

They met up at yinzer-favorite Fat Head’s Saloon in Pittsburgh’s South Side. And, this isn’t the first time that the Rindfuss family has visited Davison after utilizing our Better Way to Invent.

A Davison-designed product that promises to make a healthier meatball is dripping with tons of recent press.  Featured last week on Lifetime TV’s “The Balancing Act,” the Meatball Baker also appears in Cre8tive Compass Magazine (C8C) online.

According to the site, C8C is “ALL about exploring, creating and most importantly LIVING the creative life” (something we are DEFINITELY all about, too).  C8C’s Rebecca E. Parsons, who is also a frequent blogger for “The Balancing Act,” tested the Meatball Baker by creating meatballs, skewered shrimp, shish-kabobs, sausages and bratwurst in the pan.

How did it work?  Her blog title, “I Love My Meatball Baker, Pinterest Contests and Giveaways,” says it all!

In the article, Parsons goes on to explain just what she loved so much about our client Jean’s meatball-baking machine.  Here are a few snippets:

“I was smitten when it arrived. My creative imagination went into overdrive…”

“No more misshapen, flat on one side meatballs for me. They come out round and perfect every time. See my meatballs and brats on the removable grid? Nifty for any size meatball and many other foods as well.”

Well, blogger Toni Spilsbury is offering a Davison-designed solution for moms who love to cook on her blog, “The Busy Mom’s Guide to Making Dinner.  Saving Time.  Saving Money.”

The “Mothers Who Love to Cook Gift Guide” post features our client (mother and grandmother!) Jean’s idea, the Meatball Baker!

Spilsbury calls her gift list, which features several innovative cooking items, the “best of the web for that special mom” and says that she “personally hand-picked each of [the] fabulous items as something [she] would love to receive.”

Specifically, Spilsbury says the Meatball Baker is a “brilliant baking pan [that] produces beautiful meatballs.”

She even mentions Jean’s innovative thinking when she says, “This product was invented by a mom who got tired of having her meatballs fall apart.”

Also making Spilsbury’s list were other big-name kitchen brands like Le Crueset, Pyrex and Cuisinart.

Jean’s Meatball Baker was licensed by Chicago Metallic and currently sells there for $21.99.

So, if you’re still trying to decide how to pamper your mom this Mother’s Day, consider doing it the Davison-designed way!

This year’s theme is thanks to a very recent phenomenon… the number of women in American colleges now outnumbers the number of men!  Read more about this year’s theme and the journey that women took to get to the head of the class at the National Women’s History Project webpage!

And, talk about empowering…  Sarah Blakely, the inventor of Spanx, is the world’s youngest female self-made billionaire!  What are Spanx?  They’re body-shaping innovations that range from undergarments to swimsuits, acitvewear and men’s undershirts!

Just like every inventor, Blakely’s invention has a great story to accompany it as well.  According to Spanx.com, “… Blakely was getting ready for a party when she realized she didn’t have the right undergarment to provide a blemish-free look under white pants.  Armed with scissors and sheer genius, she cut the feet off her control top pantyhose and the Spanx revolution began!”

The company now offers over 200 products; but, don’t be fooled.  Like many inventors, Blakely’s first attempt at success ended in failure.  But, that certainly didn’t stop her!

“People have million dollar and billion dollar ideas daily; and, you have to trust your gut.  Go for it and if you fail at it, that’s great… because it just means… change something, do something a little bit different.  I mean, every failure is definitely a gift and it should just not stop us in our tracks,” said Blakely.
