What a terrible way to kick off a trip—until now…
Meet Peter, a travel lover and idea person. Peter often traveled with his in-laws, and without fail, his mother-in-law’s luggage was always overweight. This caused delays during boarding, especially on the way home. For Peter, this was the most frustrating part of every trip.
When paying extra wasn’t an option, souvenirs and belongings were sometimes left behind. Each time this happened, Peter found it increasingly embarrassing. Tired of the hassle and determined to find a solution, he decided to take matters into his own hands and create a product that would give him—and travelers everywhere—peace of mind.

Peter was an everyday kind of guy with a common travel problem and a big idea. Unsure of where to begin, he discovered Davison® and decided to take the first step in his inventor’s journey by submitting his invention idea to Davison using their Idea Security Agreement (ISA).
With the ISA submitted, Peter knew his idea was secure at Davison and backed by a 100% confidentiality guarantee. From there, he started working closely with a project manager, brainstorming and working out the features and overall benefits of his product.
See, Peter wanted the final product to solve multiple travel challenges, starting with luggage security. To address this, he incorporated a built-in combination lock, giving travelers an essential 2-in-1 tool—but that wasn’t all. Peter also wanted this game-changing travel tool to include an extra hook, helping travelers attach and carry personal items.
Because Peter noticed how tricky it was for his wife and mother-in-law to manage all of their items—especially personal items like their purses—he added a hook to the design of his product. He knew this would be a convenient solution, freeing up their hands and making the airport experience much smoother for everyone.
Durability was also a top priority for Peter, as heavy luggage often leads to wear and tear. The Luggage Scale™ was designed with an adjustable strap to fit suitcases of any size and built tough enough to handle even overweight bags. Its simple, user-friendly design allows travelers to weigh their luggage with just a press of a button and a lift—eliminating the need for bathroom scales or store visits. Packing a suitcase became a worry-free process.
The development team went the extra mile, designing custom injection molds specifically for manufacturing the Luggage Scale™. Once the prototype was complete, it underwent rigorous testing to ensure it could withstand long-term use with heavy loads.
