Back in February, our CEO and Founder, George Davison took a trip to The Container Store to see if he could find our client Jennifer’s Hanger Pocket Accessory Organizer product, which keeps clothes and accessories neatly organized. The trip to the store was a success and Mr. D was able to locate her product under a private label!

We shared news of Mr. D visiting The Container Store to hunt down Davison client Jennifer’s Hanger Pockets that were private-labeled. Now, we’re sharing even more evidence of the Davison ‘D’ at The Container Store.

Another successful trip to The Container Store! Mr. D was able to locate several more Davison client products under both their original packaging and under private labels. “We’re hearing that a lot of our inventions keep showing up at The Container Store!” said Mr. D. Well it’s safe to say that after this trip to The Container Store we have found even more evidence of the Davison ‘D’ on shelves!

A typical project does not get a royalty agreement, sell in stores or generate a profit. The inventor of Hanger Pocket Accessory Organizer has not made a net profit on this product.

This holiday season, our very own founder, Mr. Davison, contributed to a notable community cause with a donation to Variety® – the Children’s Charity, which holds an annual Anniversary Gala in Pittsburgh each winter to raise funds to empower children with disabilities.

Variety Chief Executive Officer Charles LaVallee was quick to express thanks to Mr. Davison for his support of the gala in an emotion-filled letter, which noted that all funds raised from the gala help provide equipment that has the power to give children with special needs the opportunity to participate in typical childhood experiences. In particular, this year’s 89^th Anniversary Gala included the “My Bike” parade, which highlights a Variety program that grants customized adaptive bikes to children with special needs.

Tracy, the mother of a child who rode his innovative adaptive bike in the “My Bike” parade, explained what the end of year gift meant to her and her son, Gage.

“When we went to get Gage fitted for his new bike, he was truly excited and felt safe and comfortable. It made my heart smile to watch him accomplish another milestone. He is so excited about receiving his bike. He has all these plans for going on bike rides with friends!” said Tracy.

As we bring the holiday season and 2016 to a close, we encourage the innovators, inventors and everyday idea people of the world to find “a better way.” What can you do in your community? Innovation is all about finding “a better way.” It’s about tuning into your power of observation to open your eyes to possible improvements.

Speaking of “tuning in,” just think about the dawn of color televisions as an example of innovation. Many of us will soon be watching the ball drop in New York City’s Time Square from the comfort of our own homes. We’ll watch on flat screen televisions with such high definition that we see every glimmering color, it’s almost like we’re there to close out another year.

It’s a great improvement over the original color picture tube, of which one of they key inventors was a friend of our very own founder, George Davison. That’s innovation! It’s a natural phenomenon that occurs over time as advancements and improvements are made.

As a company, Davison is always trying to innovate and improve to better reach and serve a community of inventors. Now, Davison is on the air with our first ever 30-second television commercial. Check it out!

The article, “Inventionland helps build new products, entrepreneurs,” deems our creative design facility an “idea incubator” that is capable of helping people who’ve “hatched an idea for a fabulous new invention…”

After chronicling founder and CEO Mr. Davison’s personal invention journey, contributing Trib Total Media writer Joyce Hanz discusses how both Davison Design & Development and Inventionland were born. Hanz briefly touches on how Mr. Davison came up with the Davison Inventing Method.

“This method involves a nine-step process under one roof to increase productivity and provide a one-stop-shopping invention incubator,” she says.

We know that our founder and CEO, George Davison, is passionate about many things; inventing, the community around us and a great story are just a few of his passions. So, it should come as no surprise that Mr. Davison would be involved with Rotary International, an organization that is dedicated to “uniting for the common good” that just so happens to have one incredible story.

Rotary International began in 1905 when a Chicago lawyer by the name of Paul Harris gathered several business associates together to talk about forming an organization for local professionals. Harris got the idea for the fellowship club after witnessing the way one of his associates interacted with area shopkeepers as they passed through the streets of the city one night.

“The thought persisted that I was experiencing only what had happened to hundreds, perhaps thousands, of others in the great city … I was sure that there must be many other young men who had come from farms and small villages to establish themselves in Chicago … Why not bring them together? If others were longing for fellowship as I was, something would come of it,” said Harris.

And, that “something” that Harris envisioned started out as a small, gentlemen’s luncheon, but has grown into Rotary International.

His “Rotary Club” met for working lunches in its early stages; but, Harris expanded his organization across the U.S. in just five years. Today, Rotary International unites “leaders from all continents, cultures, and occupations to exchange ideas and take action in communities around the world.”

Rotary International recently recognized the contributions of Davison’s founder and CEO, George Davison, when they named him a Paul Harris Fellow, “in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world.”

On September 24, Mr. Davison took to the microphone at the 27^th Annual St. Barnabas CEO Leadership Conference in Gibsonia. While at the conference, Mr. D shared the trials and tribulations that he has experienced both in his personal life and in his career.

Aside from these ups and downs, Mr. Davison has found great success within the industry and it showed not only to the people in the room but to people from all over the world that if you have a dream, you can achieve it.

Mr. D told those in attendance his story of growing up in poverty after his parents’ divorce and how he discovered, after many failed business ventures, however big or small they were, that he no longer wanted to sell other people’s products; he wanted to sell his own.

And that is exactly what he did. Mr. Davison took his failures in stride and created a better way to make his dreams come true through hard work and perseverance. That determination paid off when he created Inventionland, America’s largest invention factory and was called a “creative genius” by Entrepreneur Magazine.

Before Mr. Davison departed from the stage, he left the more than 200 senior executives at the conference with this piece of advice, “Find what you like to do. Look at it. Study it. What do you see? Is that what you want to do?”

We think that it’s safe to say that through Mr. D’s failures he found a better way to create success.
