With the help of our licensing department, Davison has moved new products into more than 1,200 retail and online stores! In terms of “product success,” we’d say this is a pretty big deal for those clients who’ve had the opportunity to see and touch their products on store shelves!

Clients came to Davison for inventing expertise and innovation. Stores have found Davison products to be innovative enough for the shelves. And lately, that innovation has driven celebrities to stamp their approval on Davison client products!

Diana’s Chilly Mat

Diana couldn’t stand to see her precious pets panting from the heat. Through our product development process, Davison was able to bring designs for Diana’s “Chilly Mat” to life and to store shelves! After selling in stores like Home Depot, Wayfair and HugsPetProducts.com, the Chilly Mat made its way into the hands and packaging of pet-lover Paula Deen!

Jennifer’s Hanger Pockets

Jennifer came to Davison with her idea for Hanger Pockets as a convenient way to organize and pair accessories with their matching outfits! Though she loved the original product design and packaging, when she found out it was being licensed and repackaged under her cooking and baking mentor Paula Deen’s Everyday collection for Jokari/US, Inc., she was thrilled!

Jean’s Meatball Baker

If there’s one well known QVC chef that knows how to cook healthier, it’s Chef Tony Notaro! So, how perfect would it be that Davison client Jean’s Meatball Baker that elevates meatballs out of their own grease when baking would stir up an idea for yet another new product? The Bacon Baker became part of Love Cooking Company’s Chef Tony line of healthy bakeware.

Justin’s Dessert Diva

Davison client Justin had an idea for a better way to carry and serve tasty treats and desserts. While his original product was licensed to Love Cooking Company, who would have thought that an entire line of new carry and serve options would later be derived from Justin’s original product! Just check out Love Cooking Company’s new Decadent Delights collection by leading wedding and entertaining expert David Tutera!

In previous blogs, we talked about the idea of failing forward and not letting failure derail your progress.

Our very own founder and CEO George Davison is a testament to this notion as he stayed persistent after the failed invention of his toothbrush sanitizer idea.

Though failure could have stopped him in his tracks, he decided to push forward and achieve many other great things and create many great inventions along the way.

As National Inventors Month is quickly coming to a close, we couldn’t think of a Better Way to close out this month-long celebration than by introducing George Davison’s latest invention, the Curved Bench that has recently hit the market!

And there’s no better person to share this exciting news than Mr. Davison himself!

“When I used to coach soccer, the benches were always straight and I was always frustrated because I couldn’t get my kids to rally in a half circle and focus on the coaching,” said Mr. Davison.

Recently, Mr. Davison walked on our loading dock to find his newest invention had just come in! “I [saw it and] said ‘It is! It’s here!’ I just wanted to share the news. It’s awesome!” said Mr. Davison.

National Inventors Month is underway and we’re starting this month-long celebration off with some motivation – after all, it is Monday!

So, what exactly does National Inventors Month entail? The month of May is reserved for the celebration of invention and creativity, which began in 1998 by the United Inventors Association of the USA (UIA-USA), the Academy of Applied Science and Inventors’ Digest magazine.

At Davison, we take great pride in our clients who had ideas and believed in them so much that they turned to us to help make their invention dreams a reality. For us, we treat every month like it’s National Inventors Month as we champion the idea people who continue to create and innovate every day.

The purpose of National Inventors Month is to promote the inventors whose ideas have served as real contributions to the world.

Pursuing your invention dream is much like a rollercoaster. It’s filled with ups and downs, as well as twists and turns. With that being said, there are different parts of the process where you’ll be traveling at high speeds and others when it feels like you’re slowly climbing up a hill.

It’s the latter point where we’d like to mention that today is actually National Look on the Bright Side Day! Each year on this day, people are urged to look on the bright side of things.

So, we decided to help you, the person who is working towards making their dreams a reality, with some motivational tips on how to look on the bright side of the invention process when things might not be going as you’d expected!

Three ways to look on the bright side:

Remove “can’t” from your vocabulary.

“Believe you can and you’re halfway there.”

Just like we mentioned in our blog that offered you tips on how to tune out skeptics, apply those tips plus a positive attitude to avoid “can’t” from your vocabulary. A defeatist attitude will get you about as far as a car without an engine.

Be grateful.

“Be grateful for small things, big things, and everything in between.”

There are times when looking at the bright side of things can seem out of the realm of possibility. However, it’s important to take a step back and concentrate on what you do have, rather than what you don’t have. For instance, if your journey to reaching your goals isn’t as going as smoothly or as fast as you’d like, realize that you are on the path and are working towards making your dreams a reality one way or another.

It’s OK to make mistakes.

“Your past mistakes are meant to guide you, not define you.”

Remember, no one is perfect. Rather than looking at the negative aspects of a mistake that you’ve made, look at the bright side of that mistake and use it as a lesson moving forward. Stop dwelling on the negatives and start focusing on the positives. If life was perfect, would you be inventing a product that solved a problem? With that being said, use mistakes as learning lessons and move forward, don’t look back.

So today, on National Look on the Bright Side Day, we challenge you to look on the bright side of a negative situation and use it to your advantage. Because after all, “Why be negative when you can be positive?”

Ideas can be big or small, crazy or conservative, out-of-this-world or practical. Whatever it may be, an idea is an idea!

If you think that your invention idea is too off-the-wall to ever be created, let us fill you in on a magical secret… even Walt Disney, one of the most creative people in history, had his fair share of wacky ideas!

In fact, in January 1942, Walt Disney traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with chemical warfare and civil defense officials to check on a design that he had created for a gas mask… you read that right – a gas mask!

This gas mask was unlike any other, because it was reminiscent of none other than Mickey Mouse. Disney’s gas mask idea was created to find a Better Way to calm terrified children.

Though it wasn’t a normal invention idea from Walt Disney, he believed in his idea and worked hard to have his innovation come to life.

It’s this lesson that inventors from all over the world should follow. If you have an invention idea, believe in it, work on it and make it come to life!
