“It looks beautiful,” said Jason, corporate creative coach. “This is one of those neat projects where the designer was able to impart some of his own wisdom.”

The design manager is referring to Davison senior designer Matt, who has experience making jewelry. Some bead crimpers on the market that look and work like pliers can be hurtful on the hands, Matt explained. Darice wanted an easier way of crimping beads, so he came up with a tabletop version that you can bear down on like a stapler.

“You don’t have to squeeze on anything; it rests on the table and you can lean on it. I know from experience, working with hand tools, even some of the most ergonomic can get pretty uncomfortable on the hands after awhile.”

The product also enables the user to crimp beads of different sizes, and there doesn’t seem to be any product on the market quite like it. When asked how he came up with the original idea, Matt said: “It just made sense to me; it was just a natural form to make it.”

The corporate team worked together on the product to produce the design, engineering, graphics and sample build. Great work, everyone!

The Bucket Bench, which we created for Faucet Queen, has had its first production run, and 1,000 units are on a boat and on their way to market! We recently received the production approval sample from the factory; aside from some minor issues that were easily corrected, the sample was perfect.

“It looked fantastic,” said the creative coach of special operations. “It looked exactly like our prototype.”

The product is an addition to the Helping Hand line, bringing the total to 10 car cleaning items. It is designed to hold and keep all the items handy, while giving the user a convenient and comfortable place to sit while cleaning and detailing a vehicle.

The designer of the project was especially pleased and excited to see it turn out so well. Several people worked on the project to produce the engineering, graphic design, packaging, POP display, photography, and a lot of sewing.

“When all was said and done, our seamstress built three or four versions while working with the designer to refine the design,” the coach said.

The product will be for sale on Faucet Queen’s website along with the rest of the line and will be available for orders once FQ receives the units next month. We can’t wait to see what great possibilities await this great new product. Congratulations to all who worked on it!

He got a bigger surprise when George Davison, founder and CEO, presented him with his first royalty check. When asked what he was going to do now, he laughed and said, “I’m going to Disneyworld!” After several years of working on his idea, the receipt of his first royalty check was “a blessing” and “perfect timing,” said Gary, who was temporarily out of work due to the poor economy.

Inventor’s story:
Gary came up with his new product idea in an attempt to help his buddy, “Snake,” who had a dirty, white dog that ran away whenever he tried to give him a bath. Gary had some scraps of pipe and hose in his truck, so he built a device that would enable his friend to contain and wash the dog. Lo and behold, it worked. He saw a need for such a device on the market, so he went online and found Davison, a new product development firm that provides services to inventors, corporations and entrepreneurs. He submitted his idea and the design team went to work.

The finished product, which was licensed by Hugs Pet Products, is a portable and inflatable dog washing station that is easy to set up and use. The lightweight, heavy duty unit hooks up to a garden hose and has an adjustable full spray nozzle and gentle side spray, as well as a side entry for easy canine access.

Gary was not only thrilled with the product and royalty check, but by the royal treatment he and his friend, Scott, received at Davison. They toured Inventionland, “the world’s most creative workplace,” and met with Mr. Davison and members of the design and licensing team. The client was impressed with the “professional operation” and the work everyone has put into his product.

Gary described Mr. Davison as “a down-to-earth dude” who “really knows what he’s doing.” He was also impressed with the company’s development process.

“Davison didn’t just develop my idea, they actually expanded on it,” he said. “I was skeptical; I never saw it coming this far. But it’s there, it happened, and I can’t believe it.”

A typical project does not get a royalty agreement, sell in stores or generate a profit.
