<p>Pittsburgh, PA, March 11, 2013 &#8211; Target, Bed Bath &amp; Beyond, Walmart, Home Depot, Sears, K-Mart, JC Penney, Jo-Ann Stores, FAO Schwarz, Cabela&#8217;s, Petco, Dick&#8217;s Sporting Goods. These are but a handful of the 1,300 retailers and online stores who have carried Davison-designed products.</p>
<p>&#8220;When we started out more than twenty years ago, the notion of selling our clients products in thirteen hundred stores was like a schoolboy believing he would have a Super Bowl ring on his finger someday,&#8221; says George M. Davison, CEO of Davison, the Pittsburgh-based new-product development firm and home of Inventionland. &#8220;But we made the first one thousand stores our mission and now here we are at thirteen hundred and counting.&#8221;</p>
<p>It started with Walmart, the first major retailer to offer Davisons Oil Filter Gripper in 1996. Other early products that were picked up by retailers include the Personals Air Freshener and Yard Address Stick. Specialty Gourmet Goodies marked the 1,000th retail venue to carry Davison products by offering the Healthy Steps Pasta Basket. Two weeks prior to Specialty Gourmet Goodies, T.J. Maxx began to sell a popular Davison pet toy, the Hydro Bone. Since then, Blueify Store, Buy.com, Chicago Metallic, Snooty Pooch Boutique and Sports Authority have picked up popular Davison-designed products.</p>
<p>Over the years, George Davison has perfected a nine-step method of developing products. He works closely with his own designers, individual inventors and corporate clients to create professional-quality prototypes and packaging. Approximately 140 product prototypes are turned out each month at Inventionland, and those that are licensed and marketed bear the distinctive Davison &#8220;D&#8221; placed discreetly on the product packaging.</p>
<p>&#8220;The once unthinkable has happened,&#8221; Davison said from his tree house office at Inventionland, the creative design facility Davison opened in 2006, and where his creative team goes to work each day with the mandate to invent. &#8220;Davison products have now been sold in thirteen hundred different stores and online retailers. This is an incredible milestone for the company and for all of us who have made this dream come true.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Dare to invent&#8221; is Davisons motto, and he counts among his role models Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and Walt Disney. &#8220;I find it extremely rewarding to be able to help the everyday &#8216;idea person bring an idea for a new product to life, and then hear their reaction after they actually see it in packaging and on the store shelf,&#8221; Davison said. &#8220;There&#8217;s nothing more exciting.&#8221;</p>
<p>The company and its wide range of products have been featured in a variety of media, including the Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, Popular Mechanics, Smart Money, Forbes, CBSs The Early Show, PBSs Dave &amp; Dave Show, the Rachel Ray Show and many others.</p>
<p>Inventionland was honored as an IDEA 2012 Annual Design Review finalist in the Kitchens category for its Surprise Pan. Inventionland won a 2011 Creative Rooms in Business (CRIB) award, which &#8220;celebrates creative work environments incorporating nontraditional design&#8221; and is bestowed annually by the Pittsburgh Technology Council.<br />

<h3>Leading Invention Services Company Expands to South Florida</h3>
<p>New York, NY-February 5, 2013-Davison, the Pittsburgh-based new products development and invention services company, is expanding into south Florida. Davison&#8217;s Venice, Florida, office is slated to open in early February 2013. Jeff Sawyer, vice president of new products, is to be in charge of the Florida office.</p>
<p>&#8220;Opening a sales office in Florida expands our visibility and our geographical reach,&#8221; says founder and CEO George M. Davison from his office in Pittsburgh. &#8220;Our business objective is to help inventor clients the way I wish I had been helped when I was just starting out inventing in 1989.&#8221; What he could have benefited from then, he says, was &#8220;professional advice from successful inventors and a wider perspective on the world of consumer-product development.&#8221;</p>
<p>Ideas thrive at Davison, where inventions for new products are the company&#8217;s stock in trade. Capturing and encouraging the spirit of innovation is at the heart of Davison&#8217;s mission. From a glimmer of an idea to sketches on paper to prototypes to finished product samples complete with graphics and packaging, inventions take flight at Davison. The company, which has 250 employees, develops ideas for itself as well as for individuals and corporate clients.</p>
<p>&#8220;Establishing a presence in Florida will allow us to be closer to one of our core constituencies-individual inventors in the south Atlantic region,&#8221; Davison says.</p>
<p>Opening a Florida office will also provide entrée to new markets, particularly in Brazil, one of the fastest growing economies in South America. Currently, the company does business in North America, Europe and Australia.</p>
<p>But at Davison it&#8217;s never strictly about business. Employee perks count too. In 2006, Davison opened the 61,000-square-foot Inventionland to encourage creativity. Originally conceived as a &#8220;creative workspace&#8221; for his designers, with 16 themed sets, it has since become the largest &#8220;invention factory&#8221; of its kind in the U.S. The space has been honored with several design awards, made it to Ripley&#8217;s Believe It or Not Annual in &#8220;The Remarkable Revealed&#8221; and was featured on CBS&#8217;s The Early Show, among other TV shows.</p>

<p>New York, NY, December 23, 2011–Ever wonder where all those fantastic, odd and oddly useful consumer gadgets come from? Browsing the aisles of Target, K-Mart, Walmart and other major retailers, one marvels at the scope of imagination when it comes to products for the home, office, workshop and garage. For inventors and those who have big ideas of their own, home shopping shows and big-box stores are playgrounds of potential.</p>
<p>Now comes &#8220;Inventionland,&#8221; a new reality-based TV special scheduled to debut on HISTORY on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. EST. Shot on location, the Pittsburgh-based Inventionland is the headquarters for Davison Design &amp; Development, founded by George Davison, the show&#8217;s star.</p>
<ul>
<li>&#8220;Inventionland&#8221; delves into the sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes exhilarating real-life drama of the high-risk world of inventing. The show follows three inventors as their respective inventions take shape. From the thrill of coming up with a big idea to the challenges involved in turning it into a functioning prototype and then into a money-making proposition or a trip back to the drawing board, it all begins and ends at Inventionland, America&#8217;s largest invention factory.</li>
<li>Stuck holding onto the umbrella during a breezy day at the beach while watching his young daughters have fun in the ocean without him, inventor Milton Branch envisions a beach cooler that firmly anchors an umbrella even on the windiest days. Find out if the project flies.</li>
<li>Kurt Whiteside and 5,000 of his car mechanic customers around the country anxiously await the next generation of the Hover Creeper. But first this miracle of physics must pass the muster of NASCAR mechanic &#8220;Big A,&#8221; who ultimately says, &#8220;Every fat guy should have one of these.&#8221; Then Inventionland designers face a last-minute, nail-biting prototyping problem that requires Mr. D.&#8217;s expertise as an important celebration looms.</li>
<li>Taking a cue from the original boom boxes of the 1980s, twenty-year-old Jason Ramsey has the idea for a new surround-sound, six-speaker wearable belt that will enable him to share music the old-fashioned way with his skateboarding friends at the park. There&#8217;s only one problem, and it&#8217;s a doozy.</li>
</ul>
<p>Intertwined with these compelling invention stories are those of Inventionland&#8217;s own creative captain, &#8220;Mr. D.&#8221; – the one and only George Davison–and an eccentric cast of designers and builders. Jason configures each design team, balancing personalities and talent for what an invention needs; he&#8217;s also the master deadline enforcer. Jarrod, the lone wolf known for his quick temper, never hesitates to speak his mind. The quintessential super-geek Clay is nonetheless a snob at heart. Lucky, ever the skeptic, plays devil&#8217;s advocate at every turn. Outdoorsman Curtis is part Grizzly Adams and part Turtle from Entourage. Tensions may flare, creative minds do clash and emotions run high, but in the end, the cast of characters&#8217; idiosyncrasies work in their favor, and the new inventions come to life.</p>
<p>George Davison says from Inventionland, &#8220;Whether we invent new products to ward off outside competition, or to fix a pressing problem, or to bring pleasure into new realms, there is a ravenous appetite among consumers for the new and innovative. And we do it all at Inventionland.&#8221;</p>

<h3>Company Celebrates with Festive Gala in Inventionland</h3>
<p>Pittsburgh, PA, October 17, 2011 – Target, Bed Bath &amp; Beyond, Walmart, Home Depot, Sears, K-Mart, JC Penney, Jo-Ann Stores, FAO Schwarz, Cabela&#8217;s, Dick&#8217;s Sporting Goods. These are but a handful of the 1,000 retailers and online stores who have carried Davison-designed products. The Pittsburgh-based new-product development firm and home of Inventionland celebrated the milestone with an in-house party replete with a laser light show and nine-liter bottle of Champagne.</p>
<p>&#8220;When we started out more than twenty years ago, the notion of selling our clients&#8217; products in one thousand stores was like a schoolboy believing he would have a Super Bowl ring on his finger someday,&#8221; says George M. Davison, CEO of Davison. &#8220;But we made it our mission and now here we are.&#8221;</p>
<p>It started with Walmart, the first major retailer to offer Davison&#8217;s Oil Filter Gripper in 1996. Other early products that were picked up by retailers include the Personals Air Freshener and Yard Address Stick. Now, Specialty Gourmet Goodies marks the 1,000th retail venue to carry Davison products by offering the Healthy Steps Pasta Basket. Two weeks prior to Specialty Gourmet Goodies, T.J. Maxx began to sell a popular Davison pet toy, the Hydro Bone.</p>
<p>Over the years, George Davison has perfected a nine-step method of developing products. He works closely with his own designers, individual inventors, and corporate clients to create professional-quality prototypes and packaging. Approximately 200-240 product prototypes are turned out each month at Inventionland, and those that are licensed and marketed bear the distinctive Davison &#8220;D&#8221; placed discreetly on the product packaging.</p>
<p>&#8220;The once unthinkable has happened,&#8221; Davison said in a toast to the company&#8217;s success. &#8220;Davison products have now been sold in one thousand different stores and online retailers. It&#8217;s an incredible day for the company and for all of us who have made this dream come true.&#8221;</p>
<p>The celebration was held at Inventionland, the creative design facility Davison opened in 2006, and where his creative team goes to work each day with the mandate to invent. &#8220;Dare to invent&#8221; is Davison&#8217;s motto and he counts among his role models Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and Walt Disney. &#8220;I find it extremely rewarding to be able to help the everyday &#8216;idea person&#8217; bring an idea for a new product to life, and then hear their reaction after they actually see it in packaging and on the store shelf,&#8221; Davison said at the celebration. &#8220;There&#8217;s nothing more exciting.&#8221;</p>
<p>Davison has been featured in Entrepreneur, American Executive, Fortune, CBS&#8217;s The Early Show, PBS&#8217;s Dave &amp; Dave Show, Lifetime TV&#8217;s The Balancing Act and others. The company&#8217;s products have been reviewed in Business Week, Metropolitan Home, on the Rachel Ray Show and many others. Inventionland was honored with a 2011 Creative Rooms in Business (CRIB) award by the Pittsburgh Technology Council. At the 2011 International Housewares Show, at least 150 Davison-designed products and packaging solutions were in evidence in the exhibitors&#8217; booths.<br />

<p>PITTSBURGH, PA. &#8211; The world&#8217;s largest professional craft and hobby show featured 10 Davison products, five of which are already selling in Jo-Ann stores: Better Bobbin Winder, Quick Cut, Petite Press, Quilt &#8216;n Go and the Travel Folding Stitcher&#8217;s Tool. Buyer feedback was great on all the products, which we designed for Prym&#8217;s Dritz and Fon&#8217;s &amp; Porter lines. Two news additions to the latter, the Lighted Threader and Ergo Stiletto, soon should join them in the stores.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s exciting to start seeing all of the Davison products hitting the market in the crafting industry,&#8221; said Davison&#8217;s Vice President of Licensing.</p>
<p>Feedback was also very good on several new scrapbooking and jewelry making products we designed for a major manufacturer and some that are still in development, which &#8220;received a tremendous amount of feedback.&#8221; The manufacturer sells to retailers and also has a chain of its own craft stores.</p>
<p>&#8220;It seems we&#8217;ve had very good success with our first couple of products with them,&#8221; said the vice president. &#8220;We&#8217;ll see more and more Davison items hitting store shelves in the near future.&#8221;</p>
<p>Davison is a new product development company that has created a method of building ideas into products that makes the process affordable for inventors, corporations and entrepreneurs.</p>

<p>PITTSBURGH, PA – Davison&#8217;s Inventionland, a 70,000 square-foot, Disneyesque design facility, was prestigiously awarded the inaugural Creative Rooms in Business (CRIB) award by the Pittsburgh Technology Council at the ceremony&#8217;s third-annual Design, Art &amp; Technology Awards (DATA) held at the Pittsburgh Opera. According to Inventionland founder and CEO George Davison, the recognition, by the oldest and largest technology association in Northern America, is an extreme honor.</p>
<p>&#8220;We try to inspire creativity and push it to the ultimate level,&#8221; said Davison as he was presented a solar-powered award made from recycled technology. &#8220;This award means a lot. You bare your soul when you put your creativity out there and push it to the limit.&#8221; He later continued, &#8220;I want to thank everyone at the Pittsburgh Technology Council for this award, and for this wonderful event, as well as all the great people at my company who helped create Inventionland.&#8221;</p>
<p>The CRIB award &#8220;celebrates creative work environments, incorporating non-traditional design, unique methods of company community, artwork or space that encourages creativity.&#8221; Inventionland professionals work in 16-themed sets, including a shipwrecked pirate ship and a castle complete with turrets and a drawbridge. Further, the ceremony&#8217;s theme &#8220;Art challenges technology / Technology inspires art,&#8221; also is a basic principle behind Inventionland.</p>
<p>&#8220;I believe that environment plays a very important role in bringing people together in all sorts of business, be they creative or not,&#8221; said Davison. &#8220;This fantastical playground we&#8217;ve created is meant to inspire people working in the environment, as well as thousands of young visitors that come to tour our facility every year. While this award is a testament to a moment in time today, the real testament will come when those youth grow into the creative leaders of the future.&#8221;</p>
<p>Each year, the DATA ceremony recognizes the region&#8217;s best and brightest in creativity, innovation and technology. The CRIB award was one of five awards for innovators at the &#8220;region&#8217;s leading-edge intersections of tech and creativity.&#8221;</p>
<p>The awards ceremony culminated in &#8220;The Spark: Igniting the Creative Fire That Lives Within Us All,&#8221; a riveting presentation by Lyn Heward, international Creative Director and Executive Producer of Cirque du Soleil.</p>

<p>PITTSBURGH, PA. &#8211; March 10th, 2011 &#8211; Getting a final count of all the products designed by Davison that were on display at the 2011 International Housewares Show was not an easy task.</p>
<p>&#8220;The numbers are almost overwhelming,&#8221; said Davison&#8217;s Vice President of Licensing.</p>
<p>Counting the items in multiple product lines, there were easily more than 150 products and packaging solutions with the Davison &#8220;D&#8221; on display in the booths of many corporations.</p>
<p>&#8220;The show was very busy and extremely productive,&#8221; said the executive. &#8220;It was better this year because we had more of our products on display and more client products selling in the stores.&#8221;</p>
<p>As a result of great feedback at the show, Chicago Metallic has picked up the entire line of Davison-designed silicone bakeware and the firm also is moving into the tooling phase for holiday-themed pans that bake treats in the shapes of snowmen and Christmas trees.</p>
<p>The pans, which should be on store shelves in time for the 2011 holiday season, were developed as a result of the collaboration between Davison and Xtraordinary Home Products; both XHP and Chicago Metallic are divisions of Focus Products Group.</p>
<p>&#8220;The evolution of the Silicone Dessert Pans continues to grow positively with both the new Chicago Metallic versions and new holiday silicone pans, all of which are some of the most appealing new bakeware items in the company,&#8221; said the president of XHP.</p>
<p>&#8220;Across the board, all products that we developed with Davison were received by the retailers extremely well,&#8221; he added. &#8220;The Bread-It Ultimate Breading Station was a huge success, as was the Fill &#8216;N Grill. We expect very strong placement on both products.&#8221;</p>
<p>George Davison, CEO of the new product development firm that bears his name, said the Davison / XHP collaboration is &#8220;a testament of how great things come from teamwork and strong partnerships.&#8221;</p>
<p>Other Davison designs for XHP that were well-received include the Swingers by Swing Away line of folding kitchen utensils &#8211; 19 utensils that open and close via a hidden locking mechanism, taking up less storage space. The Swingers are being tested in select Bed, Bath &amp; Beyond stores and likely will appear on a major shopping network this year. It will be the seventh Davison-designed product/line to appear in the past two years!</p>

<p>XHP&#8217;s president agreed: &#8220;Overall, the (IHA) show has positioned us in a very strong position to further grow our overall product positioning at retail with Davison/XHP created programs.&#8221;</p>

<p>PITTSBURGH, PA.  March 4th, 2011 &#8211; The Bread-It &#8220;Ultimate Breading Station&#8221; that we created for Xtraordinary Home Products has just been launched into the marketplace on QVC! The innovative kitchen product, which keeps all breading ingredients neat and organized, was presented during the popular &#8220;In the Kitchen with David&#8221; show.</p>
<p>&#8220;It was a great debut,&#8221; said Davison&#8217;s VP of Licensing. &#8220;The presenters really showed all of the product&#8217;s great features.&#8221;</p>
<p>Co-host Marie Louise Ludwig said the item is the &#8220;perfect&#8221; solution to a common problem. &#8220;The bowls are longer and deeper so you can bread food correctly,&#8221; she said, demonstrating. The hosts also showed multiple great uses for the product and highlighted the &#8220;naturally non-stick&#8221; silicone material.</p>
<p>The QVC &#8220;first look item&#8221; will be shown at the International Housewares Show in Chicago, March 6 &#8211; 8, where it is sure to garner the attention of buyers looking for innovative new products to add to their store shelves.</p>
<p>This is the sixth product in two years to air on QVC as a result of the collaboration between Davison and XHP. The unique product follows successful QVC launches of many products, including the Meatball Baker, Party Traveler, and Silicone Dessert Bar Pan (all client products), as well as the Surprise Filled Dessert Pan.</p>

<p>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE</p>
<p>PITTSBURGH, PA. &#8211; January 31st, 2011 &#8211; Choosing the best &#8220;Rube Goldberg Machine&#8221; built by local high school students at the Chain Reaction Contraption Contest at Carnegie Science Center was not easy, but Pete M., Davison&#8217;s Vice President of Design, and a senior designer were up to the task. They chose the &#8220;Gator Vendomator&#8221; created by a team from Gateway High School to win the &#8220;What Will You Create?&#8221; award sponsored by Davison.</p>
<p>The contraption made change for a dollar bill in 22 steps using a series of levers.</p>
<p>&#8220;It was a really neat machine, with a lot of complicated mechanisms,&#8221; said Pete. &#8220;If they could automatically reset it, people would be putting dollars into it all day long.&#8221;</p>
<p>For winning the award, Luke, Brian, Mike and Jason, as well as their classmates in honors physics, were given a tour of Inventionland. Jim P., the gifted coordinator thought it was &#8220;a once in a lifetime experience&#8221; for his students, who &#8220;like to think outside the box,&#8221; to see how engineering and creativity go hand in hand.</p>
<p>&#8220;This is a perfect example of engineering and creativity coming together; I&#8217;ve always encouraged that.&#8221;</p>
<p>The teacher was hoping his students would be inspired by the visit to pursue their interests in the field of engineering and science; he also thought seeing that they don&#8217;t necessarily have to work in a dull office would encourage them.</p>
<p>&#8220;Students associate engineering with sitting in an office doing boring work; seeing a place that looks like this can alter their perception,&#8221; said the coordinator. &#8220;And having a place like this in Pittsburgh &#8211; it&#8217;s a treasure, and it&#8217;s appropriate because of Pittsburgh&#8217;s history of inventing.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I wanted to congratulate you guys on a wonderful project,&#8221; the VP told the team and their classmates as they reclined in the Inventionland theater. &#8220;There were some real nice mechanisms on there.&#8221;</p>
<p>Many of the students were equally impressed with Inventionland and the tour they received from a senior concept designer.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s amazing; these workspaces  mini houses inside of houses. It kind of makes me want to work here,&#8221; said Deen.</p>
<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m surprised how realistic everything looks,&#8221; commented Joy.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s very cool  just how much detail there is,&#8221; added Luke.</p>
<p>Several students in the class are interested in engineering and &#8220;a number of them are just extremely creative. They tend to attack a problem from a different level,&#8221; said Lynn M., gifted coordinator.</p>
<p>&#8220;When we opened up the tour many of them jumped at the chance to come. Having these opportunities out there in the work force, not just the standard engineering job, is inspiring for them  especially in Western Pennsylvania,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;To have it so close to home and to have the opportunity to see it is an inspiration for the kids to pursue something like this.&#8221;</p>
<p>Later this month, the educators will be taking their students to Engineering Week at a nearby Westinghouse facility. The team also will be competing in the East Allegheny Experimental Apparatus Organization.</p>
<p>Pete is looking forward to seeing more inventive creations and &#8220;chain reaction contraptions&#8221; at the next Carnegie Science Center competition  it&#8217;s a tough job, but somebody&#8217;s got to do it.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s really neat to see the inventions of young people. There was a lot of competition this year,&#8221; the VP said. &#8220;Every year it gets better and better.&#8221;<br />
