A Davison-designed product that promises to make a healthier meatball is dripping with tons of recent press. Featured last week on Lifetime TV’s “The Balancing Act,” the Meatball Baker also appears in Cre8tive Compass Magazine (C8C) online.

According to the site, C8C is “ALL about exploring, creating and most importantly LIVING the creative life” (something we are DEFINITELY all about, too). C8C’s Rebecca E. Parsons, who is also a frequent blogger for “The Balancing Act,” tested the Meatball Baker by creating meatballs, skewered shrimp, shish-kabobs, sausages and bratwurst in the pan.

How did it work? Her blog title, “I Love My Meatball Baker, Pinterest Contests and Giveaways,” says it all!

In the article, Parsons goes on to explain just what she loved so much about our client Jean’s meatball-baking machine. Here are a few snippets:

“I was smitten when it arrived. My creative imagination went into overdrive…”

“No more misshapen, flat on one side meatballs for me. They come out round and perfect every time. See my meatballs and brats on the removable grid? Nifty for any size meatball and many other foods as well.”

“Your beautiful meatballs are healthier for you as all that extra fat drains right off. That is a biggie for anyone watching their weight or looking for healthy baking alternatives. This pan is a winner.”

“It is a pretty innovative kitchen product, which solves a lot of problems.”

In fact, Parsons loved the Meatball Baker so much that she decided to give her readers a chance to win one of their own as well! Check out Parsons’ entire review for more details.

Don’t forget, Davison followers also have the chance to win the Meatball Baker through our Pinterest giveaway, which runs through October 22nd! And, if you didn’t catch Mr. Davison, Jean and the Meatball Baker on Lifetime’s “The Balancing Act,” it airs one more time Thursday, October 25th at 7 a.m. Tune in!

The marriage of the spoon and cupcake frosting has been one of the naughtiest temptations to capture the hearts and minds of Americans. Then someone had to go and wed brownies to brunch and make it a month-long celebration!

August is National Brownies At Brunch
Month, and Davison has a love connection of its own to celebrate – brownies and bowls. Licensed by Chicago Metallic, Davison’s Brownie Bowl bakes delicious, fillable brownies, eliminating the messes made by trying to pour milk or scoop ice cream on top of the sweet treats.

Use the Brownie Bowl to create a never-ending assortment of exciting brownie combinations. One “Love From the Oven” blog reader suggests: “chocolate brownie bowls, filled with a chunky peanut butter frosting, topped with a chocolate drizzle!” Another recommends “a chocolate mousse filling.” But the beauty of this creative bakeware is in the eye of the beholder.

The Brownie Bowl was born out of necessity as inventor Christine Walker tells it. Christine saw her high school boyfriend and his teammates making messes with gigantic cafeteria cookies soaked in milk and knew there had to be a better way.

“I was horrified and thought, ‘I need to put a stop to this,’” Walker says about her boyfriend’s dessert habits. “I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be better in the shape of a bowl?’ That would solve the mess, but still be delicious.”

So treat your Brownie at Brunch guests to an unforgettable smattering of goopy desserts this month without blowing your budget on moist towelettes.

Grab a half cup of flour, one cup of water, 2 eggs and lots of creativity! This week’s all-new “Dare to Invent” episode hits the kitchen to whip up some exciting baking innovation.

Tonight’s webisode is the twelfth in our 13-episode series and features Christine Walker, inventor of the Brownie Bowl – a delicious dessert solution that enables bakers and chefs to create fill-able brownie, cookie, cake, and bread bowls.

Christine came up with her Brownie Bowl idea in high school, when she witnessed her boyfriend at the time sloppily soaking the cafeteria cookies in milk.

“I was horrified and thought, ‘I need to put a stop to this,’” Walker says about her boyfriend’s dessert habits. “I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be better in the shape of a bowl?’ That would solve the mess, but still be delicious.”

Christine shared the idea with her mom, but it wasn’t until she moved to New York City to attend performing arts school that she decided to take action!

Around 2008, Christine, a self-proclaimed obsessive baker, had baked a batch of cookies for her personal trainer. She told him about her “dunked cookie” idea, not realizing that he already had a connection that just might help her out.

“He said, ‘You have to pursue this!’ He had a friend, who had worked with Davison; [so], I was actually referred… and I took his advice,” said Christine.

With the help of the Creationeers at Davison, Walker’s solution for sloppy sweets is now being sold nationally and on QVC.com. Silicone Brownie Bowl Forms were created by Walker to turn already delectable treats into self-contained snack traps.

The bowls’ silicone design means the forms are able to cook at pretty much any temperature with any recipe, are dishwasher safe and can cook cakes, breads, brownies, muffins, and, of course, cookies evenly every time.

Join us tonight (on davison.com and youtube.com) to find out how Christine’s idea morphed from an answer to her ex-boyfriend’s sloppy snacking to a delightful QVC product and baking-blog darling.

Tonight’s “Dare to Invent” webisode takes viewers on a journey from the moist, cakey outside of an invention’s concept all the way to the delicious molten chocolate core of the finished product. Join us tonight (on davison.com and youtube.com) for episode 11(!) of our 13-part series and get inside the minds of the Creationeers behind the Surprise Pan.

Pete is an Inventionland employee who usually focuses on bringing other people’s ideas to life. His curiosity and adventurous nature lead to a lot of tearing things apart and a great amount of blowing stuff up. So when Pete proposed an idea for a cupcake pan, more than a few heads turned at Inventionland.

During a brainstorm session for a product that would use a nail to cook a potato from the inside out, Pete came up with an idea for a better cupcake pan. “Why don’t we just push nails right through a muffin pan? Then we’d be able to put something right on that nail; [a] marshmallow or a Snickers bar,” said Pete, which would create a treat with a surprise at its core.

The pan, which has standard-sized cupcake cavities allows you to bake sweet treats into your desserts’ true center. One of the great benefits of the pan is its ability to keep your surprise ingredient in the center of the cupcake, creating a balanced bite. Now, even heavy add-ins stay in the middle of cupcakes thanks to the pan’s snack-securing center spike.

Sound too complicated? It isn’t. Place your favorite filling on the center spike of each cupcake mold, fill with batter and bake! The center spike will support any treat you dare to bake into your cupcake: cherries, Swedish fish, chocolate, caramels, truffles (chocolate or fungi), pineapple, cookie dough or a piece of strawberry. If you really want to be adventurous, use the center spike as a skewer and shish kabob a variety of the aforementioned add-ins. The possibilities really are endless, but the length of spike isn’t, so choose wisely.

The Surprise Pan, which is sure to satisfy any sweet craving, is just another example of a successful Davison-designed product that is showing the power of teamwork!

Join us to see how this sweet idea came out of Inventionland to end up on the shelves of Bed Bath & Beyond, on QVC, Amazon.com and Sur la Table to the surprise of many baking enthusiasts.

Watch as the Davison Inventing Method is used to invent Pete’s Surprise Pan!

Now, the Brownie Bowl is getting serious attention far beyond our write-ups! Christine’s bowl is getting very high praise from users on Pinterest, DIY baking website Bakerella and many other baking-savvy social sites.

To celebrate, Davison is sponsoring a Brownie Bowl giveaway that gives you the chance to be master of your dessert domain by winning a set of two Brownie Bowls from Chicago Metallic!

Not long ago, Chicago Metallic sponsored a Brownie Bowl giveaway on the Love From The Oven blog, offering the bowls as a prize for the reader with the best dessert idea. Judging by audience response, the contest and the bowls were a huge success.

Love From The Oven blogger Christi reviewed the Brownie Bowls and wrote:

“A few weeks ago, I was catching up on my favorite blogs and reading about Bakerella’s trip to the Home and Housewares Show when I spotted a new product from Chicago Metallic – an amazing mold to make Brownie Bowls. Shut the front door. BROWNIE BOWLS. I couldn’t hurry myself over to the Chicago Metallic website fast enough. And there they were. An amazing set of Brownie Bowls for $10.99. Shopping cart, checkout, start stalking UPS trucks… And they arrived. The UPS left them by the door and ran back to his truck (I think he’s afraid of me – sometimes I get really excited when I know that he’s bringing me stuff like, well, Brownie Bowls).

Readers and contest entrants could hardly contain themselves, commenting:

“I would make chocolate brownie bowls, filled with a chunky peanut butter frosting, topped with a chocolate drizzle. Sounds like heaven!”

“I would use a chocolate mousse filling with the brownie bowls. You are right, there are so many possibilities for the bowls.”

“How perfect! I would make SO many ice cream sundaes with these Brownie Bowls!”

“Little Rice Krispie treat cups with peanut butter mousse and chocolate. I need one of these pans!”

Bakerella readers also exclaimed:

“Looks like a fantastic time… what a fun adventure to be able to see all the new products coming out! I’m thinking that Brownie Bowl is on my wish list …”

“Brownie Bowls?!? Holy wow!!”

“Oh Em Gee! I NEED a Brownie Bowl mold! How have I lived this long without one?!?!”

QVC customers raved:

“These Brownie Bowls are so cute and do just as they are supposed too. 5 Stars to them. The things you can do with them are endless. I encourage all to try these.”

“Fun and satisfies that different something we all search for.”

“ … it was a bit much on the chocolate (can’t believe I said that!!) but definitely delicious!! Can’t wait to try out other recipes. I think I might have to buy another set. 4 doesn’t cut it in my house!!”
