Stuffing your Stockings Online

The Container Store isn’t on every corner like some retailers, so not everyone can run in and get a few stocking stuffers. But if you shop online, you can find these small gifts, along with many others, and have them shipped to you in time for the holidays. I have to say, though, shopping online is nothing like perusing their large, wide open retail stores, but you can still find some great products and have them mailed to you.

Gifts of Christmases Past

When I recall the Christmases of my youth, I think of all of those must-have gifts I could not live without. Some of them I still have, some of those I could have lived without. This collection of gifts will probably be a dead giveaway of my age, but I wanted to share those holiday gifts I desired so badly growing up. (The kid in me still desired toys as recently as the iPod Touch a few years ago. And yes, I was very excited to open it Christmas morning.)

The experience of opening a box and putting together every part as fast as you can, precisely applying decals, or plugging in and playing without the need for an instruction booklet, is priceless. The desire to discover the toy, to transform it, install it, or load it — to understand and operate it for the first time, is ageless.

To this day, I still look forward to discovering what I will get, as I did when I was a child. No matter the size, the price, or the occasion, every sense stirs your imagination when you first open a new gift. Crumpling the wrapping paper, opening the box and feeling the product for the first time, holding it in your hands and smelling it fresh from the factory, as if it was made just for you. Product design and packaging can be so great sometimes!

Wrapping Paper Design: More Than Meets the Eye

unique wrapping paper

This wrapping paper has more in store than what you can see. If you have a bar-scanning application on your smart phone, snap a picture of the bar code – behind each one is an original, off-beat holiday video. The collection of 50 unique videos will keep viewers entertained until the New Year! Pretty clever Christmas gift wrap, if you ask me.

Furoshiki Packaging

gift wrapping design Wrapping a gift can be simple, or you can make it a little more unique. Furoshiki, the traditional Japanese art of wrapping, may be the way to go. As shown in these examples, you can pair up objects or wrap them alone. The idea is to fold and tie strategic knots, thereby creating a presentable end result.
