This is Not Your Average Lunchbox

Innovators & Creators, Product Innovation
The Bento is a single-portion takeout or homemade meal that is very common in Japanese cuisine. Traditionally, it is a box-shaped container that is filled with rice, fish or meat, with pickled or cooked vegetables.

There are different types of Bento Boxes that are elaborately and creatively arranged. The first style is the “kyaraben”, which are usually decorated to look like popular characters from Japanese cartoons, comic books or video games.

Another type of type of Bento Box is the “oekakiben”” which means the “picture bento”. This style is decorated to look like people, animals, buildings, etc.

Each one of these detailed pieces of jewelry makes me hungry for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Pink grapefruit, waffles and PB&J sandwiches — who cares if they don’t match anything you’re wearing, people should just wear these!

Culinary Design: Cheese Shavings

General Design, Product Design, Product Innovation

The art of making food has gone to a new level. These chili, pesto and truffle flavored cheese sticks are designed to be turned like a pencil in a sharpener.

Each flavor can be seen as the ‘lead’ of the pencil, and the cheese is shown as the ‘wood’ of the pencil. What a very creative way to create a dish.
