unique teacups

Ange-line Tetrault has nested a fox, an owl and a bear into these teacups in a pretty cool way. As you sip, the animals are revealed, swimming in your choice of tasty beverage.

Innovative Design: Floating Bike Rack

General Design, Industrial Design, Product Design

Bike Shelf designfloating bike shelf

What a beautiful way to store your bike.  This monolithic, rugged looking shelf can not only withstand the weight of your bike, it can store a few reads, too. Designed for a space saving situation, I would use this no matter what my rations for space yielded. I can see this shelving unit evolving into a greater design with maybe a place for your bike lights and lock, or even a hook for your messenger bag and jersey.

wine stopperwine stopper gift idea

Reminiscent of on old school combination lock, or library date stamp, this wine stopper is a good mix of metal and rubber. Simply twist it to date your bottle of wine on the day it was opened. Seems to be a classy way to store your wine and display it at the same time.

tire design

There are so many ways to explain how something functions, but illustrations are the most wonderful, if you ask me. Beaudaniel Illustrations has done everything from cheeseburgers to transmissions for clients like IBM, BMW and IDEO. Here are a few examples of how a cut-away or ghosted view can show so much. Enjoy.

The Lighter Side of Design

General Design, Product Design

light bulb design

Who says a light bulb has to look like a light bulb? Plumen, the new low energy light bulb, is designed to be showcased, not encased. No need to hide it behind a lampshade or within a globe, these stylish lights are aesthetically pleasing.

Light bulbs have come a long way from their original design, and all for the better. Some more playful, some more efficient, but all of them leading to the next new light bulb.
